Chilkat Hair Piece

2021. Wool and Cedar.

This hair piece was woven after viewing the SWAY woven exhibit at the Alaska State Museum. One robe on display was a replica of the historical Lynn Canal Robe and contains this shape repeated throughout. Intrigued by the combination of Chilkat and Ravenstail techniques within one robe, I went home and chose to weave this shape. This piece was later turned into a hair piece for an ensemble featured in the 2021 Alaska Fashion Week runway show.
